Lucerne Festival: Jack Quartet and musicians from the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra

World Premiere of Elliot Reed’s Succulent Rust II (For Switzerland), at the Lucerne Glacier Garden

In 2021, American performance artist Elliot Reed developed a fascinating outdoor project for the JACK Quartet and New York's Central Park. He is now working on a “Swiss version” of Succulent Rust for the Lucerne Festival. The starting point of the hour-long work is the idea of searching: the four quartet members and the participating soloists* of the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra (LFCO) are spread over the entire area of the Lucerne Glacier Garden with the famous lion monument. The audience is therefore asked to stroll around the area with pricked ears, to follow the sounds and track down the musicians who play live but without electronic amplification. Because it is impossible to perceive all sounds at the same time, each listener - depending on the route chosen - receives their own perspective on the performance, in a way creates their own work.
